MY GIRL
Part 10

I've been blessed to have the best-est betas in the entire qaf-world! :)
Connie, Lois, Mandi & Acacia... thanks girls! :)

"WHAT?" Sam screamed, the confusion obvious on her face.

Eddie looked at her. "They're gay, sweetie. Didn't you notice?"

Sam couldn't get a single word out. She opened her mouth then quickly shut it, while slowly shaking her head in shocked denial.

"Are you ok, dear?" Eddie patted her daughter gently on the shoulder.

Sam opened her mouth but again, nothing came out.

Justin's gaze was locked onto Brian's. This situation was getting more and more complicated. Neither had any idea how Eddie would react to this...what she would do...now that she knew their real relationship.

Brian could tell Justin was losing it. He saw the crazed flashes in his crystal blue eyes. Brian knew that HE was going crazy himself. This dinner was a stupid idea. He would tell Justin it was all his fault as soon as he got rid of these two bitches.

"Well?" Eddie prompted, her eyes back on Brian.

"Well, what?" Brian asked.

Eddie sighed, not breaking his glare. "Brian, I know my daughter. Jaime would never want her daughter to be raised by a gay couple."

Brian snorted. "Yet, she FUCKED a faggot. What's your fucking point?"

Eddie leaned back on the sofa, astonished. "You mean...she didn't just take his sperm?"

Justin gritted his teeth and defiantly spit out, "No, she didn't. She loved me...and I loved her."

Eddie looked from Justin to Brian. "How could you allow this to happen?"

Brian snorted. "I do whatever makes Justin happy...and he wanted her to be happy. And I didn't ALLOW anything. He's free to do whatever the hell he wants."

Sam, who had finally gotten her wind back, stood up angrily. "This is absolute nonsense!"

"Sit down, Sam." Eddie demanded.

"I will NOT!" Sam shouted. "I will not tolerate this, mother. How dare she do this to us? To our family?"

"Sam." Eddie warned calmly.

"You...you always take her side!" Sam sputtered. "But this time, she went too far! What would daddy think?"

"He's dead, dear." Eddie stated matter of factly.

"And she's the one that killed him! She left him...she left him, mother..." Sam started crying. "She knew he was sick...but she went anyway. I hate her! I hate her! I'm glad she's dead!"

Eddie slapped her so hard, the imprints of her hand were clearly visible on her cheek.

"Oh God." Eddie started shaking. "I...Sam-"

"Don't touch me!" Sam screamed, her hand on her cheek trying to rub the sting away.

Brian heard crying upstairs. "Justin? Go check on Bella."

Justin got up quickly and without saying a word to anyone, turned and ran up the stairs.

Brian switched seats so that he was now sitting next to Eddie and put a comforting arm around her shoulder. "Are you ok?"

She took a deep breath. "I'll be alright, Brian." she looked him straight in the eye and smiled, placed a palm on his cheek. "Thank you."

Brian nodded.

"I'm sorry. I made a terrible mistake by coming here." she whispered. "I just wanted to see her...maybe try to become a part of her life."

Brian understood what she was saying. "Do you want me to give you a lift home?"

She shook her head. "We'll be fine. I didn't mean to hit her."

"She deserved it."

"I don't know why she hates Jaime..." Eddie took another quick breath to compose herself and then got to her feet. Brian was amazed by the transformation. "Come on, Sam. We've over-stayed our welcome."

Sam glared at her. "Don't speak to me! And I'm not going anywhere until we sort everything out!"

"We'll come back another day." Eddie stated, winking at Brian as she pulled Sam towards the front door.

Brian closed the door behind them. He couldn't believe the day he'd just had. But it was all over now. No more stress. At least not tonight.

He made sure everything was secure before going upstairs. Justin wasn't in their bedroom so Brian went to Bella's room. Sure enough, his partner was in bed with Bella, who was sound asleep and softly snoring.

"Hey." Brian sat on the edge of the bed.

"Hey." Justin said, his gaze never leaving Bella's face.

"Are you ok?"

"Fine."

Brian planted a kiss on Bella's cheek. "Coming to bed?"

"In a while."

Brian nodded, leaned over and placed a kiss on Justin's parted mouth. He got no reaction but chose to ignore it.

They would talk in the morning.

Brian knew something was wrong the minute he woke up. He felt strange. He got off the bed and made his way to the bathroom. With his toothbrush in his mouth, he returned to the bedroom fully intending to wake Justin. The only problem was Justin wasn't there. In fact, Justin's side of the bed hadn't even been slept in.

Brian finished up his morning rituals quickly, assuming Justin had fallen asleep with Bella. He called the office and told them he wouldn't be coming in today. He wanted to spend some time with Justin and his baby girl.

He opened his daughter's door quietly and was immediately annoyed when he realised the room was empty.

"Justin?"

No answer.

"Justin? Where the fuck are you?" he called, as he ran down the stairs.

Nothing.

Brian tried to stay calm. He dialed Justin's cell. No answer. Dialed again. No answer. He tried five more times but still no answer.

Four hours later, Brian couldn't take anymore. He was fucking pissed.
Fuck Justin for doing this! He picked up the phone and called the one person he knew who would have the answers to all his questions.

"Bella! Stop that." Justin scolded his daughter as she attempted to press another elevator button. The doors opened on the 20th floor and he hurried to his hotel room. He and Bella had been down at the pool when he got an urgent page. He didn't want to miss the phone-call, assuming it was Michel, after all, he was the only person who knew where they were.
Michel had tried to talk him out of it, but Justin was firm on his decision. He just needed some alone time to figure everything out...to hide out for a while. Brian wouldn't let him do that...and so Justin decided to take matters into his own hands. Plus, Sam and Eddie wouldn't find him here...no one would.

"I wan ice-cweam." Bella begged. She pulled on his hair to get her point across.

"In a minute, sweetie." Justin promised, as he opened the door.

Justin blinked twice when he saw Michel standing there. "Michel? What-"

Michel started stammering out a reply. Justin couldn't understand much because it was all in French, he knew Michel only spoke fluent French when he was incredibly nervous...or scared. "Je suis désolé mais il m'a incité à le faire! Brian m'a incité à lui dire. Vous me connaissez ne pouvez pas garder des secrets!"

"Huh? What? Michel-"

"I think he's trying to apologise in advance for being a traitor." Brian entered from the adjoining room with Gus following close behind him.

"Dada!" Bella screamed loudly when she saw Brian. She immediately stuck both arms out for him to come and get her. Brian pulled her into his arms and kissed her chubby pink cheek. He gave Justin a cold stare before turning back to his daughter.

"Are you having fun?" he asked her.

"I wan ice-cweam." she told him, smiling sweetly.

"Then you'll get ice-cream." Brian said. Bella broke out in a huge grin knowing that she just got her way.

"Spwinkles?"

"Lots of sprinkles."

"Twerries?" her eyes opened wide.

"Who can have ice-cream without cherries?"

Bella grinned. "Now? Can we have ice-cweam now?"

"Michel will take you and Gus for ice-cream." Brian turned to glare at Michel. "Won't you, Michel?"

Justin glanced at Michel. The Frenchman was looking slightly pale. Justin knew Brian must have let him have it on the plane ride. Justin gave him an encouraging smile to let him know everything would be ok.

Michel swallowed. "I will take les enfants."

Brian kissed Bella one last time before handing her over to Michel. He gave her a warning though, "If you don't behave yourself, you don't get anything. Is that clear?"

She nodded. "I be good, dada." she turned to Gus and waved him to come with her. "Gwus! Let's go ice-cweam!"

Michel made his way to the door quickly giving Justin sympathetic looks as he did.

"Hey Justin, this place is so cool." Gus said excitedly as he followed the other two.

"Thanks, Gus." Justin smiled. "Your mom didn't mind you coming?"

Gus shrugged. "I'm with dad. It's his weekend. Plus, he said he's gonna take me shopping. Right, dad?"

Brian nodded. "Look after your sister. Make sure she doesn't pull any of her stunts on Michel, ok?"

Gus laughed. "She'll be ok. When food's involved, you know how sweet and polite she can be."

Brian's smile disappeared the minute Gus closed the door behind him. His eyes locked onto Justin's.

Justin knew he was in for it now. He shouldn't have left without telling Brian. But hell if he was going to explain anything to anybody right now. He wanted some alone time... well, maybe that was only partly true. He could tell Brian wasn't going to make this easy though.

When Brian refused to say anything for several minutes, just continued to stare at Justin, he got annoyed. "Will you just say something and stop looking me like that!"

Brian snorted. "Justin, what the fuck do you want me to say?"

"I know I've upset you."

"Upset me?" Brian laughed mockingly. "What possible reason do I have to be upset?"

Justin flared his nose. "Oh shut up and stop pretending Brian."

"I just can't fucking believe you, you know that?"

Justin sighed. And so it begins, he thought.

"How could you do this to me?" Brian shouted.

"What the fuck did I do to YOU?" Justin screamed back. "I had to come to New York to take care of business. I brought Bella. Big-fucking-deal, Brian. And just to let you know, not every fucking thing has to do with you!"

Brian's eyes narrowed. He pinched the bridge of his nose, tongue in cheek. "You don't HAVE any fucking business here...unless that fucker left that out of his explanation."

Justin groaned inwardly. Michel obviously didn't cover for him as well as he thought.

"So who's the liar? You or him?" Brian pressed.

Justin took a deep breath. "Brian-"

"Why couldn't you just tell me you were going?"

"Would you have let me?"

"Everyone needs to have their personal space, Justin."

"Brian, don't bullshit me. You hate it when I go away without you."

Brian tried to calm himself. "You shouldn't have taken her with you then."

Justin laughed in disbelief. "She's MY fucking daughter! I'll take her anywhere I want."

"She's my daughter too!" Brian screamed back. "And I don't want you hauling her all over the country just because you're fucking scared!"

"Don't tell me what I can and can't do, Brian." Justin told him coldly. He turned and walked towards the bedroom.

"Don't walk away from me Justin." Brian warned.

Justin stopped. "Brian, please. I don't want to talk about this anymore."

"Tough."

Justin gritted his teeth in frustration.

"I just don't understand why you're pushing me away." Brian lowered his voice now and moved closer to Justin.

Justin looked into his eyes. "I just wanted to be alone." He knew that was a bit harsh but he wasn't thinking clearly. He was tired and frustrated and scared.

Brian raced a hand through his hair, exasperated. He looked at the floor then back at Justin again.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Brian asked softly.

"What am I doing to you, Brian?"

"You're still trying to hurt me...make me pay...for what I did."

Justin gritted his teeth once again. "Don't fucking start that up again. I really don't want to talk about the fact that you can't keep your fucking dick in your pants."

"Why the fuck do I even bother?" Brian muttered. "You're like a fucking broken record."

"Shut up! You started this." Justin spit out angrily.

"And I'll fucking finish it!" Brian said. "You want to be alone? You want to push me away? Fine. So fucking be it."

Brian stormed angrily towards the door.

Justin closed his eyes, tears threatening to spill. "Brian!"

"But just to let you know Justin, you have nothing to worry about. Eddie changed her mind."

"What?"

"She's not going to do anything." Brian opened the door. "I'm going to take MY son shopping now. And then I'm going home. You can stay here and be alone all day and all night for all I care."

Brian slammed the door and was gone.

Justin collapsed on the bed. Would things get any easier anytime soon?
